Biography
I am a pharmaceutical scientist, natural products chemist, and anti-doping scientist. Throughout my career, I have actively contributed to the global fight against doping in sport, both within Australia and internationally. Throughout my professional career, my work has focused on the education and training of students at tertiary level, research into the chemistry of natural systems but also mentorship of new local anti-doping scientists. My scientific journey has taken me from the tropical regions of Central America to Melanesia, where I’ve explored bioactive compounds in nature. Notably, I have isolated novel compounds from fungi traditionally used by Indigenous communities in Papua New Guinea, uncovering their antibacterial and antioxidant potential. In the realm of sports integrity, my work has helped level the playing field through the development of intelligence-led anti-doping programs enhancing doping detection and deterrence strategies. Currently, I am a teaching-focused academic, bringing my passion for science communication into the University classrooms when delivering lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions for pharmacy students. |
