These scholarships support people at different stages of their journey into teaching, whether you are starting your first Education degree, changing careers or building on your existing experience to become a qualified teacher.

These scholarships are part of the ACT Government Scholarship and Career Pathways to Teaching Program and support students studying eligible Initial Teacher Education (ITE) degrees at UC. These include undergraduate and postgraduate Education courses leading to careers in Early Childhood, Primary or Secondary teaching.

Different scholarship streams support different pathways into teaching, depending on where you are in your career and where you want to go next. This includes career changers entering the profession through postgraduate study, current ACT Education Directorate employees undertaking an undergraduate teaching qualification, as well as students studying in priority teaching areas aligned to workforce needs (including areas such as STEM, languages and inclusive education) where there is strong demand for future teachers.

Eligible students may receive ongoing financial support paid annually for the duration of their degree. Undergraduate students may receive up to $11,000 per year for up to four years, while postgraduate students may receive up to $9,500 per year for up to two years, subject to enrolment and progression.

Graduates who take up permanent or temporary employment in ACT public schools may also receive a $6,000 appointment allowance, paid as $3,000 per year for 2 years, by the ACT Government. This brings the maximum total value to $50,000 for undergraduate study and $25,000 for postgraduate study.

In 2026, you won鈥檛 need to submit a separate application for ACT Government teaching scholarships. Eligibility is automatically assessed after you enrol in an eligible Initial Teacher Education degree at the 91直播, and eligible students will be contacted directly with information about how to apply. 

From 2027, scholarship applications will open from August and will form part of the standard course application process. Scholarship payments are made annually and are subject to ongoing enrolment and satisfactory academic progress.

These ACT Government funded scholarships aim to support students studying in priority teaching areas and help reduce financial barriers to becoming a teacher. In partnership with the 91直播, they support the development of a skilled, diverse and future ready teaching workforce.

Studying Education at UC offers strong industry connections, flexible study options and practical learning experiences that prepare graduates for real teaching environments.

All eligible students within the cohort are automatically considered once enrolled. Scholarship recipients are selected by the Faculty of Education from students enrolled in eligible Education degrees. No additional application is required.

Scholarships are available to eligible domestic students commencing full-time ITE study between 2026 and 2029.
