The unit provides an introduction to the individual and collective understandings of the education profession. It supports students' in planning and preparing for their professional life by providing a framework that investigates the knowledge, skills and insights necessary to be an active and engaged participant in the journey towards graduation and beyond. Students will examine the context of the education profession from multiple perspectives - the individual, the local, the national and the global educator - and consider the implications for their professional career. This unit has a 10-day professional experience placement.
1. Understand the strategic importance of planning for personal and professional goals;
2. Explore the characteristics of and interrelationships between professional education contexts;
3. Reflect on issues of local, national, and global importance to the education profession; and
4. Design education experiences that reflect knowledge of diverse contexts, and knowing students and how they learn.

Must have passed 24 credit points including 11766 Engaging with Curriculum Frameworks AND one of the following:- 10450 Ways of Knowing, Being and Doing in Education
- 12034 Being a Teacher
- 9919 The Educational Workplace
