Biography
Dr Emily Hills is an Assistant Professor in Teacher Education at the 91直播, where she leads the Affiliated Schools and Professional Experience portfolios. Since joining the Faculty in 2017, Emily has held a range of academic and leadership roles, including Program Director for Secondary Education, Interim Director of UC STEP, and Acting Associate Dean Education and School Partnerships. Her work is grounded in a commitment to equity, innovation, and evidence-informed practice across teacher education.
Emily’s research and teaching span secondary and primary English pedagogy, teacher professionalism, personalised learning, and school-university partnerships. She is nationally recognised for her leadership in the Affiliated Schools Partnership, a sector-leading initiative that bridges academic and professional contexts to enhance teacher education and school improvement. Her doctoral research explored professionalism in Australian teaching through autobiographical narratives and peer reflection.
Emily is a sought-after collaborator, having led national and international partnerships with education systems, universities, and professional bodies. She is a member of key national networks including the Assessment for Graduate Teachers (AfGT) Executive Committee and the NADPE Steering Group, and regularly contributes to national conversations on teacher education reform.
